PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

           VivekanandaCollege was established in July 1965 by the Vivekananda Educational Society, Agasteeswaram and affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. It is a co-educational institution. The college has to its credit 09 Aided U.G. Courses, 02 Aided P.G. Courses, 02 Self-financing U.G. Courses, 04 Self-financing P.G. Courses, 02 M.Phil.Courses and also a Research Centre for 02 Ph.D. Programmes. Further U.G.C. sponsored courses which include 02 B.Voc.Courses and 03 Certificate Coursesare introduced in our institution from the academic year 2016-17 onwards.

            It is significant that our College has a dedicated team of 83 Teaching Staff and 16 Guest Lecturers. Further 43 Non - Teaching Staff are also employed in this institution. It is noteworthy that 52 Teaching Staff are Doctorate Degree holders and 19 Staff members are University recognized guides in different Disciplines. It is a premier educational institution with remarkable academic achievements. It is evident from the M.S. University ranks that are obtained by the students every year. We provide the necessary platform to many aspiring youth of this region to becom every enthusiastic graduates, so that they could shine in this competitive world. We also organize various seminars and conferences on current areas in Arts and Science. Many scholarships and prizes are given to students to motivate them.

            Our Library has a good collection of books, journals, magazines etc., and upgraded by N-List to enable the students to improve their reading habit and to enhance their knowledge. Our students have excelled not only in the field of academics, but also in the field of sports and co-curricular activities. Moreover our Institution has 03 N.S.S Units, N.C.C and Y.R.C Unit to create awareness among the students and to make them socially useful citizens.

            It is no wonder that our Institution provides a serene, pleasant and peaceful environment to the students to facilitate the teaching-learning process and serves as a boon to the student community.
