The vision of the Department is to emerge as a center of excellence in computer education for rural people, to become a front-runner in preparing graduates to be efficient problem solvers, making them competent professionals by enabling them to take up any kind of challenges in the Information Technology industry they serve.

Mission

By presenting our students with up-to-date curricula in the field of computer science and information system to ensure a solid foundation in the core concepts, equip them with problem solving and decision making skills and to facilitate placement opportunities for the students.

Eligibility

For admission to U.G course , candidates should have passed the Hr. Secondary Examination conducted by the board of Higher Secondary Education, Government of Tamil Nadu or any other Examinations accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto with Mathematics / Computer Science as one of the subjects.

Course Overview 

The course in Computer Application imparts up-to-date software and hardware knowledge, and brings out well qualified software developers in the areas of Computer Application who can bring about qualitative difference in computer field. Students acquire in-depth technical knowledge and practical application skills in all disciplines of Information technology and Computer Application, and also the ability to understand and solve industrial problems and contribute to areas of research development. During the first year of the course, the students learn the basics of computer through papers like Programming in C, Object oriented programming using C++, and Digital design enabling them to have a sound foundation. Second year of the course focuses on enhancing their core knowledge through papers like Data Structure, Java programming, Computer Networks, Accountancy  and Visual Basic. They also gain knowledge through skill based subjects like Flash, Pagemaker and Photoshop. In addition, knowledge on other subjects is widened through papers like NME. During the final year of the course, the students are exposed to application oriented papers like Computer graphics and Multimedia and Web Technology. They also become familiar with the papers like Operating systems, Data mining, Software Engineering, RDBMS and Computer Networks and Data Communications.

Career Opportunities

Students can specialize in their area of interest through the Master degree and Research.

Our graduates enter the industry as highly-skilled Programmers, Network Administrators, Software Testers and Technical supporter, Java developers, Web developers. 

Highlights

The results in the University Examinations are quite encouraging and pass percentage in all subjects is consistently very high. The students are given training to attend competitive exams. Apart from giving importance to academic performance the department encourages precipitation in co-curricular activities to bring out the talents of the students. They have participated and won prizes in various competitions conducted by various organizations. Regular contact with parents adds strength to the department. 

Computer Lab

The department has full-fledged computer Lab with 31 individual high end Multimedia Computers to cater to the needs of our students.

ERANICA- The Department Association

ERANICA, the Department association was formed in the year 2003. Its aim is to develop skill of students in computer technology and to develop leadership and academic skills among students.  The student’s personality, intellect, achievement, success and recognition add great value to the positioning. The association aims to prepare individuals to face the ever-growing challenges in the dynamic IT industry with confidence. The main aim of this association is to educate the students to rise up to the growing demands for computer professionals in the dynamic IT industry. The students participate and win prizes in various intercollegiate competitions.

ERANICA runs a variety of events throughout the year to enhance the students’ knowledge in the latest technologies by organizing and participating in technical programs. It provides suitable forums to exhibit the creative talents of students and faculty members. It conducts quiz competitions, organizes Technical Talks and Workshops. Students are also given coaching for TANCET exam.
