DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY

The P.G. Department of Zoology was established on 17-08-1992 with the intake of 16 students. It is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, following the semester system. Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is adopted in the course syllabi. The builtup area of the Department is 230 sq.mtr (including staff room, class rooms and lab) and a highly sophisticated laboratory equipped with instruments, chemicals and glasswares is available. Our Department strives hard to produce world class, self-disciplined science professional. We had organized National seminars. The faculty members had attended seminars / conferences and national level workshops. Our department has a library with 251 books and maintains an exclusive question bank in the library. We conduct regular counseling to our students. Our mission is to enhance and extend services effectively to the satisfaction of parents and society. Our mission is to mould the students to the scientific world.

SWOC Analysis of the Department

Strength:

Good infrastructure and numerous excellent books available in our department library for reference.

Weakness: 

Need of Information and Communication Technology based education (ICT) regularly. Lack of communicative skills among the students.

Opportunities: 

Rural based students can develop their knowledge. 

Challenges:

Since the students are coming from rural areas they do not have sound communication skills as well as sound subject knowledge.
